Inside the home of...

Fashion Designer Soledad Twombly & Artists/Sculptor Alessandro Twombly's 19th century farmhouse located on a 14 acre hazelnut plantation in northern Rome. An amazingly beautiful combination of Alessandro's art, Soledad's textiles, old world furniture pieces and original architecture make this home a site to be seen.

Soledad & Alessandro's vision was to turn the original homes' eight small rooms into four spacious ones. During the construction, hidden under dropped ceilings installed by the previous owners, they discovered remarkably beautiful hand carved and painted ceilings done by local artisans over 200 years ago. The ceiling in this particular image is believed to be the coat of arms of the original homeowners. Artwork in the room is from Alessandro's collection.

Natural floors, cane armchairs, and an antique armchair are flooded with light from the large arched window

Alessandro's sculptures fill the conservatory above, while 12-15 foot oak saplings, fruit trees including cherries, plums, peaches, and apples, along with thousands of olive trees which supply the couples kitchen with olive oil engulf the landscape of the 14 acre property

As if the living space and the grounds weren't fab enough...in the cellar of the home Alessandro ferments Montepulciano grapes grown on the property for what he describes as "simple table wine"

In the master bedroom the linens and ikat bed cover are the designs of Soledad. Again look at the amazing original detail of the ceiling that was uncovered during the homes renovations. One is actually signed "Nazareno from Capranica" identifying the artist from a village two miles away
