Vintage Finds...

I stumbled across this ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC vintage website while looking for a vintage metal storage cabinet and literally had to stop everything and take a full two hours to browse through EVERYTHING that they have! The items are priced fairly reasonably and they are that "one perfect piece" that I am always looking to throw into the design mix! I TRIED and I stress "tried" to edit my favorite finds (although I have a whole file saved on my computer!)

.

This "Single Man's Coat Closet" is a distressed metal box is large enough to hang just one lightweight jacket - add some small shelves inside and I would say we have a great CD or DVD cabinet...Obviously with my trunk OBSESSION I had to show this Wells Fargo & Co. heavy duty shipping chest made by Venderman...

Rare find- USA original Navy storage can with markings on it - add a piece of glass to the top for a cool side table

1902 solid slate chalkboard mounted on a vintage school house door - I say paint the door a fun color and use in your kitchen or as a pantry door....no more "to do lists" stuck up on the fridge! Also shown is a rare fine primitive industrial chest - perfect for storing a number a things!!

22" tall pair of ceramic Glove Mold Hands from a rubber glove assembly line - can you say conversation piece??? Also shown - a late 19th century low cabinet with slate top - perfect for a funky side table for a low modern sofa - or a table top storage

Jugendstil canvas framed salvage slate - so cool...enough said!!

Masculine meets feminine: 1930's industrial iron side table with sculpted legs - Also an industrial mine pull cart - PERFECT cocktail table!

1930's Ephihone turned Bar Cart - WAY COOL! Also shown is a vintage metal storage cabinet - perfect as a media unit!

1890 gallery proof press with hand roller would make a fabulous console of backup unit! & an Original Vintage French missile transporting case - with markings = coolest toy chest I've ever seen!

AH and we SAVE the BEST for last! Early Century Birch Trunk - the trunk of all trunks! I can only imagine where this trunk has been and back....I love how the side flips up and all the hidden drawers for delicate storage....love love love!!!

Friday's Fab Finds...

My FAB FIND for this week actually came from the May issue of House Beautiful and the work of interior designer Jonathan Adler. Titled "Every House Needs Pizazz" Adler uses layers of pattern and color to make a splash in fashion design Liz Lange's home in New York

This shot of the dining room is my absolute FAVORITE. The black and white graphic on the area rug sets the stage for the pop of color above. The turquoise on the drapes is carried throughout the house but Adler introduces a splash of yellow lacquered on his own Chippendale Chairs.

The turquoise, black and white palette are carried into the living room layering in additional color texture (notice the nail heads on Regent armchair) I'm not sure if you can see it but Adler painted the hardwood floors white - a daring move but am AMAZING result - the white floor and walls create a backdrop for the rest of the items to pop off of.

The white crisp kitchen (from ikea) is offset with a great green and white pattern on the Cherner Bar stools. Open shelving creates the opportunity to neatly display the colored dishware - form and function!

Change out the hardware. Some of my favorite shopping sites for great hardware on a budget are Anthropologie, Atlas Home and Te-MA - check out their great designs below

Have a little extra (okay a lot extra) in your budget - browse through Carl Martinez, Nanz, and Sherle Wagner for some serious eye candy

Friday's Fab Finds

Nail heads, Nail heads, & more Nail heads...I'm loving them right now - polished, matte, bronze, chrome...doesn't matter! They are the PERFECT sparkle for any piece of furniture Have an old chair or table laying around and want to change it up a bit? Try adding nails heads! They transform an ordinary item into glam/chic with a dash of sophistication. I saw the most AMAZING chair at Kravet in the Boston Design Center this week - Bright Pink Plush Velvet with Polished Chrome Nail heads....steal my heart why don't ya?? I promise to snap a pic and post it next time I'm their. Check out some other great finds at Ballard Designs, Bungalow 5, & William Sonoma Home .

Splash of Color

So - I have had the latest issue of Design New England sitting on desk for weeks now and in need of some inspiration on this dreary Monday I finally opened it up....and inspiration I found! What could be better on a rainy Monday than a splash of color!

This space sure makes Beacon Hill pop with color! The living room is like Mondrian's dream come true! The bright bold colors are balanced by timeless pieces such as the parson's table and Marcel Breuer arm chairs. The space is layered in color and texture making the simple furniture blend with its surroundings.

In Boston's Back Bay another condo is washed with vibrant color! I love simplicity of the architecture combined with the electric layers of color!
